Bucks make it 2 wins in a row vs Prince George

The Cranbrook Bucks are on a winning streak following Friday’s triumph in the Caribou.

First period action was under Cranbrook’s control through the first half, the club was rewarded with goals from Jack Silich and Tyler Wishart to secure a 2-0 lead over the Prince George Spruce Kings before the six-minute barrier. Prince George managed to claw back into the game with goals from Owen Goodbrand and JR Perdion to tie the game 2-2. The deadlock was intact at the first intermission.

The Bucks got some offence from their blueline to start the second period. A goal from Loke Sodergren just fifteen seconds into the middle frame lifted Cranbrook to a 3-2 lead. Another Bucks defender got in on the scoring at 6:27 when Malachi Freh found the net for his first career BCHL goal, giving his club a 4-2 lead. Prince George got another goal from Perdion just past the halfway mark to cut Cranbrook’s lead to 4-3 after forty minutes.

Cranbrook essentially secured the game in the early goings of the third period, thanks largely to a pair of power play goals from Blake Cotton which were followed by a Jacob Fletcher tally. The Spruce Kings salvaged a short handed goal from Killian McGregor-Bennet, but that was not enough to dent Cranbrook’s lead, and the Bucks skated away with a 7-4 victory to claim the first half of their double header versus Prince George.

Friday’s win lifts Cranbrook’s record to 16-22-2, Prince George outshot the Bucks 28-26. On special teams, the Bucks went 2/3 on the power play and 3/5 on the penalty kill.

The two clubs meet again Saturday night to finish their double header, the Bucks will seek their third win in a row.
