Malachi Freh commits to Bucks for 2023-24

The Cranbrook Bucks (BCHL) are laying out the welcome mat for the newest member of the herd, Malachi Freh.

The 2005-born defenseman from West Kelowna joins the Bucks after spending last season with the Okanagan Rockets AAA of the BCEHL U18 program where he served as an assistant captain and posted 16 points through 34 games – he added an additional 7 points through 6 playoff games.

Freh is no stranger to the Bucks, he played one game with the club through the 2022-23 season as an affiliate player and earned an assist in his BCHL debut.

Bucks coach Ryan Donald says the team was fortunate to have him spend a chunk of time around the program in the fall and feels Freh made a great impression on staff as a player, person and teammate.

“He [Freh] was able to play a significant role on a really solid U18 AAA team with the Okanagan Rockets and helped guide them to a provincial championship,” says Donald. “We have been impressed with his skating ability, and his confidence to play in all three zones with engagement in hard areas of the ice.”

The Cranbrook Bucks wish to welcome Malachi to the organization and the City of Cranbrook.
