Bucks Blank Warriors 2-0 in Game 5, Advance to Second Round with 4-1 Series Victory
The Cranbrook Bucks capped off a dominant first-round playoff series with a gritty 2-0 road shutout of the West Kelowna Warriors on Friday night at Royal LePage Place. With the win, the Bucks take the series 4-1 and advance to the next round of the BCHL playoffs.
After two scoreless periods of tight, physical hockey, the Bucks broke through in the third. Nathan Simm opened the scoring at 6:45 with an beauty to the blocker side off of a great feed from Camden Charron, giving Cranbrook a 1-0 lead. Then the teams defense took over holding the warriors back as Adam Csabi then added an insurance goal at 19:22, assisted by Nathan Simm, to seal the 2-0 victory.
Jason Tremblay was the hero in net for the Bucks, delivering a flawless 33-save shutout performance on 33 shots faced. His stellar goaltending was the difference in a game where the Warriors outshot Cranbrook 33-19 but couldn’t solve him. Angelo Zol made 17 saves on 19 shots for West Kelowna in the loss.
