Bandits beat Bucks 6-1

The Cranbrook Bucks were running on empty Saturday night in Brooks, taking a 6-1 loss to the Bandits on the road after Friday’s thrilling shootout win in the first half of a weekend home-and-home for the two clubs.

The Bucks and Bandits appeared to have some bad feelings spill over from Friday’s game into the first period Saturday with both clubs regularly inhabiting their respective penalty boxes. Brooks managed goals from Nathan Brown and Michal Liscinsky to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.

The parade of penalties continued in the middle frame. Brooks was able to add a late power play goal from Davide Patella to increase their lead to 3-0 ahead of the forty minute mark.

The Bandits sealed the game in the third period with goals from Patella, Parker Lalonde and Cooper Pierson while the Bucks managed to break the home team’s shutout bid with a tally from Nick Capasso. The score was 6-1 at the final buzzer with Brooks taking a decisive win.

Saturday’s loss drops Cranbrook’s record to 17-13-1, Brooks outshot the Bucks 30-26. On special teams, Cranbrook’s power play finished 0/8 while their penalty kill went 7/9.

The Bucks are back in action Friday night in Trail to kick off a weekend road trip versus the Smoke Eaters.
