Friday night’s homecoming for the Cranbrook Bucks went about just as well as they could have asked for, taking an impressive 3-0 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the club’s first home game of December.
The Bucks came out with some jump in the first period, outshooting Salmon Arm 19-8. However, neither team managed a goal through the first twenty minutes.
Cranbrook finally broke the scoring in the late stages of the second period. Nick Capasso got his big night started at 12:44 when he converted on a nice passing play to put the Bucks in a 1-0 lead. Capasso added a second goal in the final minute on a short handed breakaway to give Cranbrook a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
A quick Bucks goal in the final frame from Blake Cotton essentially put the game out of reach for the road team. Cranbrook shifted to a defensive-minded game which helped with preserving Jaden Cholette’s second shutout of the season. and a 3-0 win for the Bucks.
Friday’s win lifts Cranbrook’s record to 15-10-1, they’re on a three game winning streak. On special teams, the Bucks finished 0/2 on the power play and 1/1 on the penalty kill, they outshot Salmon Arm 39-27.
The Bucks play their final game ahead of the holiday break Saturday night at home versus the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
