Bucks fall 3-1 to Silverbacks in regular season finale

The 2023-24 regular season has come to an end for the Cranbrook Bucks following Friday’s 3-1 loss to the Silverbacks in Salmon Arm

Bucks goalie Braedyn McIntosh was kept busy through the first period, he managed to turn aside 17 of 18 shots. His lone blemish was a tally from Salmon Arm’s Adam Boatter. Cranbrook trailed 1-0 at the first intermission.

Second period action failed to produce any offence for either side as both teams had defense at top of mind.

Third period action saw the Silverbacks double their lead to 2-0 with an early goal from Reid Varkonyi. The Bucks inched closer with a Donovan Frias goal at 15:45 to cut Salmon Arm’s lead to 2-1. However, the Silverbacks responded with another goal less than twenty-seconds later to secure a 3-1 win.

Friday’s loss gives the Bucks a 20-31-3 record to finish the season. Both clubs finished 1/5 on the power play.

The Bucks will begin the playoffs as the Interior’s seventh seed, they’ll face the West Kelowna Warriors in the first round.
