Bucks fall 4-1 to Warriors in regular season home finale

The Cranbrook Bucks final home game of the 2023-24 BCHL season did not go as planned, with the road team earning a 4-1.

The West Kelowna Warriors, who have had their share of difficulties with the Bucks this season, got the start they needed. The Warriors added two first period goals from Callam Hughes and Sean Keohane to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.

Second period action failed to produce any goals for either side, the Warriors outshot Cranbrook 12-11 through the middle frame but both goalies were solid. West Kelowna’s 2-0 lead held steady through intermission.

The Bucks gained some ground in the third period thanks to a Nick Capasso goal at 5:47 to cut the Warriors’ lead to 2-1. However, West Kelowna’s leading scorer Felix Caron was able to add two goals to put the game on ice, and secure a 4-1 win for the Warriors.

Saturday’s loss drops Cranbrook’s record to 20-28-3, West Kelowna outshot the Bucks 33-30. On special teams, Cranbrook finished 0/3 on the power play and 4/4 on the penalty kill.

The Bucks return to action Sunday in Trail to close their season series versus the Smoke Eaters.
