Bucks rebound for 4-2 win over Prince George

The Cranbrook Bucks picked up a 4-2 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings Saturday, erasing memories of the one that got away the night prior.

First period action failed to produce anything in the way of offence. Both teams had ten shots, but neither team was able to find the net. The game remained a 0-0 deadlock after twenty minutes.

Action began to heat up in the second period. A Donovan Frias drive to the net less than thirty seconds into the middle frame yielded the game’s first goal, and put the Bucks in a 1-0 lead. Prince George tied the game shortly after the five-minute barrier thanks to a well-placed shot from Linden Makow, making the score 1-1. Cranbrook retook their lead at 13:04 when Zion Green finished a nice passing play deep in the Spruce Kings zone. The Bucks maintained their 2-1 lead through second intermission.

Prince George, eyeing their second win in as many nights, was quick to tie the game in the third period. Linden Makow’s second goal of the game came at 2:33 to deadlock the game at 2-2. The Bucks didn’t let that shake them, and they were rewarded with a goal from Julian Frias at 3:29 to retake their lead at 3-2. The Bucks remained strong through the final twenty minutes and didn’t give the Spruce Kings much in the way of chances. A late goal from Julian Frias in an empty net secured Cranbrook’s 4-2 win.

Saturday’s victory pull’s Cranbrook’s record to 12-14-1, they outshot Prince George 35-25. On special teams, Cranbrook’s power play went 0/2 and their penalty kill finished 2/2.

The Bucks return to action at home Friday versus the Vernon Vipers.
