Bucks blank Spruce Kings 2-0

The Cranbrook Bucks remain unbeaten through BCHL preseason action following Thursday’s 2-0 triumph over the Spruce Kings.

The preseason showdown in Trail featured plenty of action through the first period, but nothing in the way of offence for either side.

The Bucks held a 15-10 shots advantage after a scoreless opening frame.

Cranbrook was finally able to find the net in the second period, a Blake Cotton goal at 5:05 lifted the Bucks to a 1-0 lead.

Bucks forward Jarrod Smith lifted his team to a 2-0 advantage when he converted a feed to the slot from Oskar Cedarqvist at 18:44.

The score remained a 2-0 lead for Cranbrook after forty minutes.

The Bucks focused more on the defensive side of the game through the third period, and were able to hold off the Spruce Kings to claim a 2-0 victory.

Cranbrook’s power play finished 0/1 Thursday, while they managed to thwart both of Prince George’s power play attempts.

Goalies Carter Capton and Danick Leroux split the shutout, the Bucks outshot the Spruce Kings 28-27.

The Bucks are back in action Friday in Trail to continue their BCHL Preseason Showcase excursion versus the Powell River Kings.
