Game Recap: Bucks Explode for 7 Goals in Lopsided Win Over Warriors

It’s safe to say the Cranbrook Bucks have regained their offensive touch following Friday’s 7-1 win over the Warriors in West Kelowna.

The Bucks were looking to rebound from last week’s setback versus Salmon Arm, and the got things started the right way Friday night in the Okanagan. Cranbrook opened the scoring at 11:40 of the first period thanks to a goal from Bauer Morrissey, and a Noah Quinn goal twenty-three seconds later made it a 2-0 lead for the Bucks. Cranbrook’s 2-0 held steady into the first intermission.

West Kelowna narrowed their gap to begin second period action. A goal from Ben MacDonald at 2:42 cut the Warriors’ deficit to 2-1. Cranbrook was able to takeover the game from that point. The Bucks rallied for three more second period goals from Morrissey, Cooper Boulanger and Cam Kungle to take a 5-1 lead through 40 minutes. Cranbrook outshot the Warriors 21-5 in the second period.

The Bucks had the game well in hand for a penalty-filled third period. They added goals from Blake Cotton and Kellan Hjartarson to cruise to a 7-1 victory.

Friday’s win improves Cranbrook’s record to 31-13-1-2, they outshot the Warriors 51-14 and lead their season series versus West Kelowna 4-0.

The Bucks return to action Saturday night in Salmon Arm where they’ll look to exact some revenge following last week’s 4-2 setback versus the Silverbacks.
