The Cranbrook Bucks’ offense appeared to be snake-bit after being held off the scoreboard in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to the Vernon Vipers.
Neither team took many risks through the first period. The Bucks had the lone power play chance of the opening frame, they outshot Vernon 7-6 through twenty minutes.
Vernon fired 14 shots on Bucks goalie Carter Capton in the second period. The Vipers found the net at 7:46 via Isaac Tremblay’s 3rd goal of the season. Vernon held a 1-0 lead heading into the third period.
The Bucks came out swinging in the third period, desperate to avoid a three-game winless streak. Cranbrook fired 16 shots on Vipers goalie Ethan David through the final twenty-minutes, but they were unable to find then net.
Saturday’s loss drops Cranbrook’s record to 7-5-1. Vernon outshot the Bucks 28-26. On special teams, Cranbrook’s power play finished 0/3, their penalty kill was 5/5.
The Bucks continue their six-game road trip next week, starting Friday in Nanaimo versus the Clippers.
