Game Recap: Bucks Lose 2-1 in Salmon Arm

The Cranbrook Bucks drew the short end of the stick in a low scoring affair Friday night at Shuswap Lake in a 2-1 loss to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

Salmon Arm goalie Matthew Tovell gave his team a leg-up with 15 saves in the first period, while goals from Aidan Lindblad and Owen Beckner put the Silverbacks at a 2-0 lead. The Bucks were unable to tally any goals through the opening frame despite outshooting Salmon Arm 15-10 and having multiple looks on the power play.

Cranbrook inched closer in the second period. A Kellan Hjartarson goal near the fifteen-minute mark cut Cranbrook’s deficit to 2-1. The Bucks outshot Salmon Arm 11-6 in the middle frame.

The Bucks pushed throughout the third period with 17 shots on goal, but neither team was able to find the net. It was a 2-1 loss for the Bucks when the final buzzer sounded to drop their record to 7-4-1.
