Cranbrook hockey fans will get to witness a bit of twin magic next season.
The Cranbrook Bucks (BCHL) are happy to announce that they have committed forwards, and twin brothers, Donovan and Julian Frias for the 2022-2023 season.
The Frias brothers played last season with St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island and with the South Shore Kings 18U AAA program. With St. George’s last season, Donovan posted 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 25 games while Julian tallied 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points through 25 games. The 2004-born forwards from Hudson, MA are also committed to play for NCAA Division 1 program Yale University.
Donovan looks forward to joining the Bucks “it [Cranbrook] looks like a great spot for me to develop into the best player I can,” Frias says. He describes himself as a big center with skill, he models his game after Charlie Coyle and Patrice Bergeron. He hopes to establish himself as an offensive presence in the BCHL, and he looks forward to meeting Cranbrook’s hockey fans.
Julian shares his brother’s optimism for joining the Bucks. He describes himself as a hard-working grinder, not unlike Milan Lucic. “Coach Donald reached out to us, it seems like a good fit and he seemed like a great guy,” says Frias. “Everything I hear about Cranbrook is great, so I was really excited to get going.”
The Cranbrook Bucks wish to welcome Donovan and Julian to the organization and the City of Cranbrook.
