Another trip to Wenatchee for the Cranbrook Bucks, and a familiar result as the Wild were able to pick up a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night.

The Bucks were able to break the scoreless deadlock on an early power play, a Tyson Dyck one-timer deep in the Wenatchee zone put Cranbrook in a 1-0 lead at 5:58. The Wild would tie the game with just under four minutes to go in the first period via Quinn Emerson’s sixth goal of the season. Cranbrook lost the shots battle in the first period 10-5, but were tied 1-1 with Wenatchee after twenty minutes.

Cranbrook restored their one-goal lead just past the five-minute barrier of the second period. A scramble in front of the Wenatchee goal led to a puck bouncing on Liam Hansson’s stick, he was able to net his third goal of the season to put Cranbrook ahead 2-1. The Bucks were able to hold on to that lead heading into the third period.

The Wild came out strong to kick off the final frame. Wenatchee tied the game in just under three-minutes when Ean Somoza notched his eighth goal of the year. Less than one-minute later, at 3:41, Wenatchee’s Cade Littler scored to put the home team in a 3-2 lead. The Bucks rallied late, but were unable to tie the game. The final score was a 3-2 Wild victory.

Wenatchee’s win snaps a four-game losing streak which they had incurred heading into Wednesday’s game, their record improves to 12-15-4-1 while Cranbrook falls to 19-15-2. The final shots count was a 24-24 tie, Cranbrook converted on 1 of 2 power play chances while the Wild went 0/2 with the man advantage.

Cranbrook returns to action Friday night to begin a double-header at home with the Vernon Vipers.
