Weekend Review: Bucks Split Weekend. Hand West Kelowna First Loss

The Cranbrook Bucks went 1-1 over the weekend losing 4-1 to West Kelowna on Friday night before claiming a 3-2 victory on Saturday night.

On Friday, the Bucks got off to a fast first period dominating much of the play and walking away with a 1-0 lead on a great shot from Forward Noah Quinn. The Warriors then turned in on the Bucks scoring 4 third-period goals including 3 in 29 seconds. Nathan Airey stopped 37 of 41 in a stellar effort in net for the Bucks.

On Saturday, the roles were reversed as West Kelowna came out with a first-period lead. The Bucks then dominated the 2nd period with 2 goals from Rookie Kellan Hjartarson then another goal from Tyson Dyck on a great shot on a 2 on 1. Bucks goaltender Nathan Airey got the win stopping 31 of 33 in his second straight start.

The Bucks head off to the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack this weekend for games against Powell River and Cowichan Valley. The Bucks then return to Western Financial Place on Oct 30 to face the Nanaimo Clippers.
