BUCKS ANNOUNCES 2021-2022 CAPTAIN AND LEADERSHIP GROUP

The Cranbrook Bucks (BCHL) are excited to announce that Reece Bentham will be team captain and that Cam Kungle, Brendan Rogers and John Johnson will be assistant captains for the 2021-2022 season.

Bentham becomes the second captain in Bucks history after Briggs Gammill last season. Bentham is in his second year with the Bucks after serving as an alternate last year. The 19-year-old led the Bucks in points during the preseason with 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 total as well as averaging over 20 minutes a game.

“Our staff is excited to name Rhys Bentham as our captain for the 2021-2022 season.” Said Head Coach and GM Ryan Donald.  “Since arriving in Cranbrook for our inaugural season, Rhys has embodied the values that make up the fabric of our organization.  He possesses a great work ethic, is a tremendous competitor, is an outstanding teammate and is enthusiastic about being engaged in our community.  We truly believe that Rhys is an excellent representative of the Cranbrook Bucks and look forward to having him Captain our hockey club.”

Kungle joins the leadership group for the second straight year as an assistant. The 19-year-old led the Bucks in minutes played per game last season and led all defensemen with 3 goals.

Rogers played for the Bucks last season but was unable to join the team for the POD season due to injury. He is off to a good start as he returns fully healthy for his 20-year-old season as he was tied for the lead in points amongst Bucks forwards in the exhibition season.

Johnson is a recent acquiree of the Bucks but comes with plenty of experience as a 20-year-old.  The power forward has already turned heads with his goal-scoring ability and touch around the net.

“We think that Brendan, Cam and Johnny will be able to support Reece in his role as captain through their various experiences and roles on our team.” Said Ryan Donald. “We feel this leadership group will do a great job leading our team into this new season.”
